Mission Statement
Lifting Our Voices for Equality (LOVE) is committed to healing the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and
trans-gender) community, and establishing political, social, economic and religious equality for people
of color and all humankind.
Community Programs
The GLBT community has been a target of intense hatred sparked by
current political agendas. The L.O.V.E Coalition's solution is to build a
community center in Atlanta to protect endangered youth. The L.O.V.E.
Coalition believes that change will come one generation at a time.
Our community center will aid in the building the next generation. Unlike
many community centers that focus on one aspect of a person, the
L.O.V.E. Coalition's community center will focus on the “whole” person.
This means that the center will offer services that will target physiological,
safety, and self-esteem needs.
The LOVE House/Community Center: Housing
Center for GLBT Youth
The L.O.V.E. Coalition community center will first and foremost offer
housing to homeless youth. The L.O.V.E. Coalition recognizes that 42%
of homeless youth identify as being a part of the GLBT community. We
also recognize that 26% of gay and lesbian youth are forced to leave
their homes because of conflicts with their families over their sexual
identities. These statistics demonstrate the need for a youth shelter in
the GLBT community.
Computer/Jobs Center
The L.O.V.E Coalition understands that for most Americans an education is the only tool that will
bridge social and economic gaps. Our job training program will offer skills such as resume writing,
proper business etiquette, and interviewing skills. Our computer program classes will offer basic
computer skills ranging from typing to web page design.
